What me miss about the states...

I took a poll from our family and this is the first thing that came out of everyone's mouth:

What do you miss about the states?

Anna's Quilt

Now that Anna has a new bed - I was looking for a bed quilt for her. My genius older sister suggested I use some material I used to have in Anna's room in the states that I bought to coordinate with her pink and white toile curtains.

So one day Cheri came up and we made Anna a new quilt! All those years of watching my mom make quilts paid off - I was in charge of cutting the 60 squares of this pink & white ticking material I had, Cheri sewed them together and I ironed them. After inspecting a quilt that my mom made for the kids, Cheri figured out how to assemble the back.

I took the assembled quilt into town to get the border and quilted diagonal design done as they have an industrial machine, can make a straight stitch in no time and do this for a very reasonable...okay, cheap price:)

I'm really happy with how it turned out - here's the final product:

Monster Kebabs

Last weekend we had friends over for dinner. Steve was hungry for kebabs, so he went into town looking for some pre-made kebobs to grill. He went to our favorite grill - The Lebanon Grill, and asked if they had any kebabs we could buy and grill ourselves. They said yes and in 10 minutes presented him with a tray of lamb and chicken kebabs on these 2 foot long spears!

Our Star...

Sarah had such a great school year - and loved her teacher! At the end of the year, they had a "Hollywood" day and gave out awards. Sarah came home so excited - she said she got the best award:

'The next Food Network Host'
(move over Rachael Ray!)

Of course we agreed it was the best award - Steve & my love for food seems to have rubbed off on her :) The below pix is of Sarah accepting her award (her teacher is also in the pix).
