So Proud...

You know that feeling you get when your child does something they're nervous to do, but go in there anyway and do their best? As you watch on the sidelines, you puff your chest out with pride - this is how I felt about Sarah this past month. Sarah joined the swim team 2 months ago and has stuck with it. She has practice from 3:30pm - 4:30pm 4x/week. I think the initial allure was that some of her girlfriends were on the team, but nonetheless, she goes to practice, never complains and swims her heart out.

They had their first swim meet a couple of weeks ago and Sarah didn't want to go since she didn't feel confident. We didn't want to push her into a situation where she would get discouraged, so she didn't go. This past weekend was another swim meet and her coach talked her into trying it.

The meet was in a military compound about 1 hour away, so we didn't feel it would suit our whole family to go with Anna still napping and the meet being almost all day long. So, Sarah & I boarded the swim team bus at 6:45am and went off to her first swim meet. She was in 3 events - 50 meter freestyle, 50 meter backstroke & 50 meter breast stroke. She was fantastic. Like every proud parent, I puffed out my chest, teared up and was her biggest cheerleader. She swam really well. After her first heat, she said, "I want to go to all of the swim meets now!" We had a great day and are looking forward to our next swim meet! Great job, Sarah!

This is Sarah getting set up for the breaststroke. Below is her with a couple of her friends after the meet.

They had another swim meet last week where my sister lives, so I brought Anna along and she was able to take her nap at her aunt's house. She saw me yelling from the sidelines when Sarah was swimming, so she started to yell too....only the race was already over and the next one hadn't started yet - so I don't know who the heck she was yelling at! :)
